The Highways Sector of the Construction Industry is TQ Exel’s main area of expertise and we work on a national basis for several major contraction organisations as well as offering an open course programme at our training centre in Somerset.
We hold approvals from City & Guilds, Lantra Awards, CITB Cskills Awards and NPORS for those employed on the national road network, whether Local Authority or Highways Agency controlled.
We can access some aspects of the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme through close links with other Approved Suppliers that we work with.
Complying with your legislative and contractual requirements under NRSWA and the various National Highways Sector Schemes is vital and greatly enhances your chance of winning work.
Approved by Lantra Awards, TQ Exel are able to offer the complete range of training and assessment programmes specified within the National Highway Sector Scheme documents for Temporary Traffic Management.
The Sector Scheme documents are linked to ISO9001:2008 and detail organisational, training and competence requirements to enable contractors to register with a recognised certification body for the type of works they undertake.
Registration to these scopes is mandatory for those working on the Highways Agency’s network and is increasingly being specified by local authorities and other client organisations.
These qualifications are for those involved in the Excavation and Re-instatement of the highway and are specified under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. They are a legal requirement for “statutory undertakers” (ie Utility Contractors) and for those working under “section 50 licenses” (Drainage works etc).
Where works are subject to the Act there must be a minimum of 1 qualified operative on every site that is qualified for the operations being carried out and there must be a Supervisor available to visit the site at least on a daily basis.
The qualifications are also often specified by client organisations and local authorities when appointing contractors for works involving excavation or reinstatement of the highway for other purposes.
Required for all operators of Winter Service equipment including Snowploughs, Gritters and Snow Blowers, this City & Guilds qualification is nationally recognised and enables successful candidates to be entered onto the national register of Winter Service Operatives and gain their NEREO Card.
TQ Exel are approved to run the 2 Day Core Course and 3 Day NPSBS (Non Proprietory Safety Barrier Systems) Course through Lantra Awards. Formerly known as the “Basic” qualification this qualification is required by all VRS installers operating under Sector Scheme 2B that are installing, maintaining or repairing TCB, OBB, DROBB, UCB and RHS safety fences.
We also offer the Diploma in Work Based Fencing at level 2 and 3 for installers of VRS or General Fencing (Sector Scheme 2A).
