PMSTS - Plant Manager Safety Training Scheme (Part of Construction Skills “Site Safety Plus” Suite of Courses) Duration 5 Days Target Audience Plant managers, Plant Instructors, Plant Inspectors, Workshop Managers, Project Managers, Agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring controlling and administering staff, teams and workforce. Aims & Objectives To help plant managers, instructors, agents and supervisors to: Manage health & safety on site, in training areas and workshops in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory roles Develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare Recognise that safe sites, training areas and workshops are efficient, economical and productive Delegates will, at the end of the training, be aware of and able to: Implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their work Implement new guidance and industry best practice State their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment Publications Candidates will be issued a copy of GE700 – Site Safety Simplified and the course study notes. Assessment Candidates will be assessed through 3 Core Exercises and an end of course examination. Certification Certificates are issued by Construction Skills and are valid for 5 years. SSSTS - Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (Part of Construction Skills “Site Safety Plus” Suite of Courses) Duration: 2 days Target Audience: Supervisors within the construction industry seeking the knowledge and information required to comply with their health and safety responsibilities and to meet the UKCG requirements for supervisors working on their sites. Aims & Objectives: The course aims to provide supervisors with the relevant knowledge and skills required to supervise sites safely. Course Content: The supervisor’s role Health & Safety Law & Enforcement Safe Systems of Work Risk Assessment & Method Statements Principles of Prevention Health & Safety Management Performance Measurement Permit Systems Fire Prevention & Control Occupational Health (Noise, Vibration, Asbestos etc) Hazardous Substances (COSHH) Presentation of Toolbox Talks CDM (Construction Design & Management Regulations) Working at Height PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Manual Handling Accidents & First Aid Behaviour & Intervention Skills Publications: Candidates will be issued a copy of GE700 – Site Safety Simplified and GT 700 – Tool Box Talks (where in company equivalent is not available). Assessment: The method of assessment is by examination (multiple choice questions) at the end of the course as well as continuous assessment through interactive sessions. Certification: Certificates are issued by Construction Skills and are valid for 5 years.

This course is for candidates who require an emergency first aid at work (EFAW) certificate to comply with HSE requirements. This is a HSE approved and certified course.

Course Content:
The role of the first aider
Communicating with a casualty
Contents of first aid kits (and avoid cross infection)
Recording of incidents and accidents
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer first aid to a casualty who;
is unconscious
requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
is choking
is wounded or bleeding
is in shock
has minor conditions (to include: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns & scalds, small splinters)
Certification:
Emergency First aid at Work (EFAW) certificate, valid for 3 years (issued in association with Abacus Professional Training)
