NRSWA Unit 002/010 - Signing, Lighting & Guarding

This Course:

Is designed for Operatives and Supervisors who have to erect or monitor the erection of signing, lighting and guarding for work on roads and highways.

Duration:

One day

Objectives:

To understand the basic principles of the NRSW Act 1991 and standards prescribed by City and Guilds
Be able to identify and use correct traffic control measures
For operatives: To be able to erect and dismantle or signing, guarding and lighting safely and in accordance with the Code of Practice.
For supervisors:  To be able to monitor operatives erecting and dismantling signing, lighting and guarding in accordance with the Code of Practice.

Course Content:

New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
Code of Practice for Safety at Road and Street Works (Red Book)
Basic principles of signing, lighting and guarding
Traffic control measures
Portable traffic lights
Pedestrian Diversions
Practical use of equipment

Certification:

A City & Guilds Certificate for either Unit 002 or 010 (as appropriate) will be issued along with a SWQR registration card valid for 5 years.  Re-assessment is required at 5 yearly intervals.
