If you are working in construction there will generally be a requirement for you to hold a CSCS card indicating your trade. These cards are obtained by passing the Health & Safety touch screen test and obtaining the relevant NVQ.read more

Areas of Expertise
These qualifications are for those involved in the Excavation and Re-instatement of the highway and are specified under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. They are a legal requirement for “statutory undertakers” (ie Utility Contractors) and for those working under “section 50 licenses” (Drainage works etc).
Where works are subject to the Act there must be a minimum of 1 qualified operative on every site that is qualified for the operations being carried out and there must be a Supervisor available to visit the site at least on a daily basis.
The qualifications are also often specified by client organisations and local authorities when appointing contractors for works involving excavation or reinstatement of the highway for other purposes.read more
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
Approved by Lantra Awards, TQ Exel are able to offer the complete range of training and assessment programmes specified within the National Highway Sector Scheme documents for Temporary Traffic Management.
The Sector Scheme documents are linked to ISO9001:2008 and detail organisational, training and competence requirements to enable contractors to register with a recognised certification body for the type of works they undertake.
Registration to these scopes is mandatory for those working on the Highways Agency’s network and is increasingly being specified by local authorities and other client organisations.read more
WINTER SERVICE OPERATIONS
The City & Guilds Winter Service Qualifications (Scheme 6159) covers all Gritter types in common use on the UK road network. The qualification is delivered at our clients location, using their own equipment and facilities. Operatives are required to attend a Winter Service specific Health and Safety course, after which they can be assessed driving their Winter Service vehicle in accordance with the City & Guilds assessment criteria. Successful assessment leads to the issue of a NEREO Winter Service Operative registration card.
The qualification also contains a 2 Day Winter Service Supervision and Monitoring course (Unit 521) for those responsible for the planning and supervision of Winter Service delivery.read more
VEHICLE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
Our VRS training area is fully equipped with all of the Non Proprietory Vehicle Restraint Systems and is approved by Lantra Awards in accordance with Sector Scheme 2B.
All VRS installers are required to hold the 5 Day Basic qualification covering TCB, OBB, DROBB and UCB, we also include CCB/ABC within our basic course.read more
SITE SAFETY PLUS
TQ Exel offer several courses from the Construction Skills Site Safety Plus suite of Health and Safety courses including the popular 2 Day SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) and 5 Day SMSTS (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme), both of which are specified for Supervisors and Managers working on Build UK (formerly MCG & UKCG) sites.read more
We offer training and assessment accross the complete range of mobile plant commonly used in Highways, Utility and Construction works. Our chosen Awarding Body for certification of Plant Operator training is NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) although we are happy to deliver on an “In House” basis if required by our clients.read more
